DETAILING
Our highly experienced detailers have created drawings for some of New Zealand’s most impressive and challenging construction projects.
Because all detailing is done in-house and not out-sourced, we can produce drawings one day and be plate processing and making components in the factory the next day.
Powered by Tekla software, we generate 3D models of the structure, connection designs and full fabrication drawings, allowing for accurate results, collaboration with architects and engineers, clash detection and generating reports for material lists and quantities.
This service ensures that the steel structure is fabricated and installed correctly, efficiently and we can control timeframes during a critical stage of the construction programme.
STEEL FABRICATION
Steel fabrication is a complex process that involves cutting, bending, and assembling raw materials to create structures or components.
Red Steel boasts one of the most experienced teams of steel welders and fabricators in New Zealand, many of whom are skilled site fabricators as well.

SANDBLASTING + COATING
Sandblasting steel is a process that involves propelling fine bits of abrasive materials at high velocity to clean, smooth and shape a steel surface to ensure proper adhesion of the coating, which is essential for long-term protection against corrosion, weathering and wear.
Red Steel's unique partnership with Napier Sandblasting (one of the largest indoor painting facilities in the country situated right next door to our workshop) facilitates a seamless process where steel can be prepped and stockpiled, ready for coating as needed. This collaboration delivers greater efficiency and ultimately cost savings and of course a superior finish.
SITE ERECTION
Red Steel’s site installation teams are led by foremen who have been part of the company for many years, meaning quality, efficiency and strong relationships dominate at all stages of a build.
Many of our site erectors have past experience in fabrication, ensuring a holistic understanding of our projects.
The team is supported by Red Steel's continuing investment in its plant, which includes a large fleet of trucks, cranes and access booms able to work on projects of any size across Hawke’s Bay, the lower North Island and occasionally further afield depending on the nature of the project.
