Located adjacent to the Ahuriri marina on a significant corner site where two quays meet, this recently completed five tower development on a 1500-square-metre tract of waterfront features is set to become a Napier landmark and is a true celebration of steel as both a design and structural element.
Exposed bolted joints and K brace frames dominate the design with heavy welded beams in the lower floors.
In order to maximise the design aesthetic of the steel, intumescent paint was used throughout and great care was taken in the fabrication process to optimise the final impact of the steel, particularly throughout the apartments where it makes a bold statement against light natural timbers.
